Jonathan Andrew, a British photographer who lives and works in Amsterdam, chose World War 2 bunkers as main characters for one of his photo series. He photographed abandoned concrete war monuments witnessing a not-so-distant past throughout France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Although most of them are damaged, full of graffiti and have succumbed to the hands of time, the author in his unique approach nevertheless managed, through lighting and ambiance, to transform the cold war monuments into monumental sculptures thus defying both nature and the past. Take a look at a selection of works below, while the whole Abandoned WW2 Bunkers series along with other Jonathan Andrew photographs can be viewed on the author’s official site.
