
Vlado Kos’ photograph ‘Power-Transmission Line’ from the ‘Cropix’ Agency was awarded Best Croatian Press Photo in 2010. It was also declared best photo in the ‘Daily Life’ category, while the author also won a ‘Pavao Cajzek’ for it, awarded to him on Monday at the Croatian Journalists’ Association in Zagreb.

Damir Senčar from the Croatian News Agency (HINA/CNA) won the award for best sports photo portraying the Croatian athlete Blanka Vlašić after she high jumped 208 centimeters.

In the ‘Event’ category Andrija Lučić from ‘Cropix’ Agency took the prize for the photo of the fire in the Zadar Lesnina, while Darko Bandić from the “Associated Press” Agency won the award in the “Cover” category for a series of photos from the Hungarian town of Deveczer after a flood of red and toxic mud.


In the “Photographic Portraits” category the award went to Tom Dubravec from ‘Globus’ for a photo of Ivo Brešan, while in the ‘Culture and Art” category the ‘Ivan Fabijan‘ first prize went to Boris Ščitar from the ‘Pixsell‘ Agency for a photo from the Croatian War Invalids Exhibition.


For best photo in the ‘Nature and Environment’ category Danijel Soldo from the ‘Cropix’ Agency was awarded for his stork photos.

At the Croatian Press Photographers Association competition, the ‘Croatian Press Photo 2010’, 1525 photos were submitted by 93 authors, while 17 made the finals.
The award judging panel consisted of Haral Menk, photo editor in the German magazine ‘Stern’; Joe Klamar, photojournalist for the French newsagency AFP; as well as Darije Petković, former photo editor of ‘Globus’.
The Croatian Press Photographers Association aims to promote and document press photos in Croatia through this press photo project which celebrates its eighth anniversary this year.
