We’ve already covered various designer bicycles, but considering your two-wheeled pet in view of traffic jams and cyclist-averse drivers, you are sure to need protection. Plastic and metal helmets, which are envisioned as accessories to keep your head from harm while you ride your bike are almost always questionably (over)designed, thus this invention from Swedish designers is highly refreshing. Anna Haupt and Therese Alstin thought up a head-protector, a “helmet” that functions very similarly to a car airbag. The airbag-helmet is hidden in a container, i.e. an originally devised “scarf” wrapped around your neck. When the acceleration meter, that is, its built-in blow detector, registers a strong or sudden jolt, the container-stored airbag blows up and both cushions the fall and protects a cyclist from potential fatal consequences. The airbag’s form, which will protect the cyclists skull from fall is wrapped around your head, and looks more like a designer futuristic hat than a traffic aid.
