Award-Winning Croatian Designers
The Croatian Design Exhibition 0910 opened on September 21st in the packed Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb. Some three hundred works were exhibited within the space of several premises, in the following categories: visual communications design, electronic/interactive media design, industrial/product design, exhibition set-up, spatial graphics and signalization, packaging, fashion and garment design along with a concept category. Awards and recognition in the professional and student categories were conferred at the beginning of the programme.
The usual slew of comments regarding the eternal question “did the best/most creative work win?” is par for the course of almost all awards ceremonies, this one being no exception. Comments ranging from how there were exceptional yet unsung ideas, projects and realizations in the excellently exhibited set-up (the author behind the exhibition set-up is the Grupa Studio) to gripes about selected works which have represented the best of Croatian design in the last two years yet failed to win an award. We’ll leave you to be the judge of such comments, while extending an invitation to all of you who haven’t already visited the exhibition to do so until the 24th of October.
