Within the framework of the Annual Exhibition of Realizations by Croatian Architects in 2010, which is set to take place at the end of the week in Split, the Croatian Architects’ Association (CAA) will confer their awards for the most successful Croatian architects’ realizations in 2010 both in Croatia and abroad.
The nominated realizations contending for the ‘Bernardo Bernardi’, ‘Drago Galić’ and ‘Viktor Kovačić’ Awards, respectively, were featured here, while all nominated projects will be presented within the next couple of weeks.
Today we present the “Dašekovo House” in Gornja Podgora, whose authors are Andrija and Jasminka Rusan, a project contending for the Drago Galić Award.
For more details on the project read further:

The house is located on the northern slopes of Medvednica, about an hour’s drive from Zagreb’s center. It’s intended for occasional residence of a family of five.
The lot has no limits in view of its size and orientation. All-around insolation, multilayered northern perspectives, catching the tips of the Alps…

The house finds its core and inspiration in an elementary, archetypal Zagora-based house which emanates moderation and simplicity. The most frequent premises such as living rooms are situated on the ground floor, while spaces for children and friends are in the loft. In view of content, there are only the bare necessities needed to keep the family comfortable when they stay here, otherwise abstaining from any and all redundancies.
The simple volume is draped in oak planks with a two-sided canopy roof and a porch on the south side pertaining to the traditional Zagorje repertory, while it attempts to apply a contemporary construction expression in view of details and openness. Maximum contact with nature in all its visible shapes and forms is realized by large panes in the living room and bedroom/study areas. A deep porch provides cover a sun-shield from the south side. The canopied terrace is open towards the south, west and north and enables an open living room. The rain-water collecting system is integrated into the porch’s formative assembly.

The ceilings remain in raw concrete form, while the floor is in oak peasant coverings. The majority of the furniture is integrated in wall partitions and tied to birch veneer wall coverings. Teraco with natural watershed granulate is placed on wet floor surfaces.
Restraint from any sort of representative form, search for simple and moderate.
