Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 was set as the publication date for the new architecture magazine – Presjek (“Cross Section”) – the ideal fusion of architecture and publishing.
Presjek is a magazine set to provide its readers with detailed architectural layouts, plans and such. It is conceived as a professional industry quarterly dealing with Croatian and regional architecture, both current and past realizations dating back to over a decade.
There are already existent magazines on the market profiling Croatian and foreign architecture, and representing the professional public’s interest. Such magazines cover contemporary works from a strong theoretical-based point of view. In addition to architecture such magazines also feature various contemporary art phenomena.
Although it is set to cover much the same topics, Presjek magazine has a completely different take on things: it will display detailed construction layouts, plans and photographs while accentuating executions and technical solutions, while taking care to emphasize architectural quality in the process.

Numerous buildings have already been published and featured, albeit with far less technical data and detail. At one time a united Yugoslavian market (today various regional countries) was united by a multitude of legal regulations and universally accepted standards and rules within the profession in regard to design and execution. That system’s heritage is visible in today’s praxis in the tendency of harmonizing with European standards, thus making projects and developments share similar features, which in turn renders them comparable. Croatian architecture is strongly defined by high-quality projects and realizations that have a recognizable place in the region and worldwide, to the point where architecture is among the strongest Croatian export products. Thus we view Presjek magazine as not only a means of communication and education within the field of architecture, but as a medium for promoting Croatian architecture within the region and worldwide.
The magazine will be bilingual (Croatian-English), printed on high-quality paper (115 g/m2) in color, with paste binding and a book block of 160 pages. It’s set to have a print run of 2000 copies with direct distribution to subscribers’ addresses as well as better bookstores throughout Croatia and its neighboring countries (regional countries: Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia), that is, distribution is set for EU member states as well. It will use real examples of specific topics (steel, concrete, facades, small facilities, etc.), professional articles in regard to the given topic (constructions, materials, etc.), professional articles with overviews on specific rules and regulations for specified topics (e.g. fire protection), promotional articles by manufacturers, ads and information.

The target audience are architects and engineers of construction-related professions (civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc.), and all those interested in concrete examples and topics. It is a magazine intended for architects, developers, investors, professionals and manufacturers of construction-related products, a magazine that provides them with the chance to read up and touch base.
