Split Hostel Golly&Bossy Announces Competition for Souvenirs
The Golly&Bossy Design Hostel in Split, which we recently featured here, has announced a competition for “merchandise” (i.e. – souvenirs, for lack of a better term to depict their upcoming line of the hostel’s promotional and practical material). The competition was released as an attempt to start the Croatian creative juices flowing, that is, to encourage Croatian designers, artists and all those who consider themselves as such to start thinking of possible creations which will serve to represent the most original Croatian hostel.
Participants are expected to come up with fresh new ideas along with a recognizable visual identity. They are also expected to show a maximum level of creativity and originality in shaping solutions for the following products:
1. Beach tote bags
2. Towels
3. Flip-flops
4. T-shirts
5. Fifth product by choice
The winning works will be produced in a small series and subsequently released for sale at the Golly&Bossy Hostel reception.
Solutions can be in line with Split as the hostel’s location, but it’s necessary to elaborate how these souvenirs would hold up if they were made for future hostels in other cities.
The organizer will take care of all production technicalities in subsequent agreement with the authors of the works selected.

All authors participating in the competition are to send their solutions by email in PDF format to the following email address: natjecaj@gollybossy.com
In addition to the PDF with solutions it is also necessary to enclose a word document which briefly explains the idea elaborated in the solution.
Mandatory elements in the design include the Golly&Bossy Hostel’s logo, as well as its basic visual identity elements. All necessary information in regard to this issue can be downloaded here.

Awards:
The expert panel of judges will select the best solutions of one or more authors for every stated category.
The panel reserves the right to select additional solutions that fit the criteria.
Each selected solution will be individually awarded with 1500 HRK.
The awarded solutions will be published on the Pogledaj.to site
Awarded and produced solutions will be exhibited within the D Day in early June 2011.
Participation:
Every adult (individual of age) with residence in the Republic of Croatia is eligible to participate in the competition.
The competition is anonymous.
Each competitor, author or team, has the right to participate with an unlimited number of works.
By submitting their work the author consents to the conditions of the competition.
By participating in the competition all authors consent to publication and presentation of their work and their name.
The organizers, in concurrence with the designer, reserve the right to use or produce any non-awarded solutions in the future.
Awarded works become the property of the Golly&Bossy Design Hostel
All other works may use final products for their own promotion, but they cannot produce them if they contain visible Golly&Bossy Design Hostel signs
The author is obligated to keep his work secret until the competition results are officially published.
The organizer reserves the right to purchase more than one work.
Deadlines:
The competition is open from its release date February 1st 2011.
The deadline for submitting works is March 1st 2011 at 5:00 PM
